Spotted In Beverly Hills: The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo

Last week during the Los Angeles Auto Show several pictures started popping up on Twitter and Instagram of a new concept car from Porsche. The new Panamera concept was seen roaming the streets of Beverly Hills. Yesterday Porsche Cars North America released this video.

All New Porsche Cayman Coming to Beverly Hills Porsche in Spring 2013

Beverly Hills Porsche is celebrating the world premiere of the new Cayman at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The third generation of the Cayman, which is making its appearance before an international audience at the LA Convention Center, has been re-engineered from the ground up – it is lower and longer, lighter and faster, more efficient and more powerful than ever. The two-seat sport coupé will be launched on the market in two versions: Cayman and Cayman S. A longer wheelbase, wider track and larger wheels enhance the driving performance of the mid-engine sports car to a level without equal in its competitive class.

Delivering more power with even better fuel economy than before, any of two highly efficient flat-six cylinder engines is mounted just in front of the rear axle, surrounded by its lightweight aluminium and steel body. The Cayman is powered by a 2.7-liter engine with 275 hp; with the Sport Chrono package it accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The 3.4-liter engine in the Cayman S produces 325  hp; with PDK and the Sport Chrono package it sprints from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The new Cayman will arrive at Beverly Hills Porsche in Spring 2013 starting at $52,600 for the Cayman and $63,800 for the Cayman S, not including a destination charge of $950.

In addition to the world premiere of the new Cayman, the 911 Carrera 4 and the Panamera Platinum Edition are celebrating their North American debuts at the show.  The Carrera 4 models are distinguished by their prominent broad rear section and a red light strip between the rear lights. The typical Porsche all-wheel drive layout, which emphasizes power to the rear wheels, guarantees maximum driving performance on a wide variety of road surfaces and in all weather conditions. The 911 Carrera 4 was unveiled at the Paris International Motor Show in September and is priced from $91,030, not including a $950 destination charge, and goes on sale early next year.

The Panamera Platinum Edition, available in Panamera and all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 configurations, stands out thanks to subtle, independent design features in platinum silver metallic combined with expanded standard features and exclusive details. The base M.S.R.P for the Panamera Platinum Edition will be $80,500. The Panamera 4 Platinum Edition will have a base M.S.R.P of $84,600. Prices do not include the $975 destination charge.  Panamera Platinum Edition models go on sale in January of 2013.

The Porsche Crest: An Unmistakeable Trademark

The Porsche Crest.




The possible variations were countless, the risk of getting something wrong was huge. But lo and behold, the result turned out to everyone’s advantage. At the start of the 1950s, Professor Ferdinand Porsche, his son Ferry and their trusted circle set about developing a company emblem that they intended both to refer to their location in Stuttgart and to have a dynamic, powerful image.


After numerous drafts were produced, including several from the pen of Porsche engineer Franz Xaver Reimspieß, a crest was finally created that has long since become the company’s trademark all over the globe. The emblem was initially put together out of elements from the history of Württemberg-Baden, as the political region was still called at that time: Stylised antlers and the state colours of red and black. This was intended as a clear commitment to Swabia, the Porsche family’s second home.

The centre of the crest shows a black horse rampant, an expression both of forward thrusting power and a derivation of the city seal. For Stuttgart, established in 950 as the stud farm of ‘stuotgarten’, has had horses in its coat of arms in varying designs since the 14th century. Through the use of the steed and the word ‘Stuttgart’, the team at Porsche were giving a clear sign of the bond they felt with the town in which they were based. The crest has the outer contours of a shield, while the word Porsche as the overarching signature, the roof over the whole, as it were, crowns the highly effective composition.


Admittedly there were some teething problems – tough negotiations with the local authority, made all the more delicate as they had to give their ‘OK’. In the end, however, the city custodians overcame their concerns in light of the crest’s strong allegiance to the company’s home.

And thus in 1952, the 356 bore the characteristic shield for the fist time. It appeared on the horn in the middle of the steering wheel – something, however, that Professor Ferdinand Porsche, who died on 30th January 1951, was not to witness. By the end of 1955, the crest was also to be seen on the bonnet of the 356, integrated into the handle. And while the handle no longer exists, the crest on the bonnet has remained. From 1959, the wheel-caps also featured the horse, the antlers and the unique wording – maybe because this enabled passers-by to recognise the sports car from the side as well! And the company has kept to this limited but well-placed distribution of the crest to this day.

There has never been any reason to contemplate changing the Porsche crest’s symbolic and powerful design and thus to risk modernising it to death. Although the lettering has been slightly trimmed and the horse’s contours smoothed over time for printed versions, brochures and correspondence, for Porsche fans, however, in Germany and around the world, who associate the sports car in iconic fashion with this image, nothing has changed for 50 years.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S Coming to Beverly Hills

 America's next top Model? No... but it is Porsche's Top SUV Performer


Porsche Cayenne Turbo S Coming to Los Angeles

The Porsche Cayenne range is now expanded to include a Turbo S model with 550 hp, an increase of 50 hp from the Cayenne Turbo. The new Cayenne Turbo S sport utility vehicle employs advanced active chassis technologies. These technologies allow it to surpass the driving performance of many sports cars, while preserving the off-road capability, ride comfort and towing ability typical of the Cayenne.

In addition to an increase of 50 horsepower compared to the Cayenne Turbo, the Cayenne Turbo S also benefits from increased engine torque, which is boosted from 516 to 553 pound-feet. This translates into faster acceleration and a higher top speed. The sprint from zero to 60 mph now takes just 4.3 seconds (-0.1 seconds), and the Cayenne Turbo S accelerates to a top track speed of 175 mph (+ 3 mph).

The Cayenne Turbo S is equipped for maximum dynamic performance. Accordingly, it incorporates chassis and drivetrain technologies which are optional on the Cayenne Turbo. More specifically, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and Power Steering Plus are now standard, in addition to the air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which is already standard on the Cayenne Turbo. PDCC allows for even flatter cornering, improving agility and ride comfort. PTV Plus adds torque vectoring at the rear wheels together with an electronically controlled rear differential lock, which improves traction and therefore offers more agility in a wide range of driving situations. The new Cayenne Turbo S is also equipped with the Sport Chrono package as standard, which includes an analog and digital timer located at the center of the dashboard. The performance display informs the occupants about the total driving time, lap distance covered so far and individual lap times. It also shows latitudinal and longitudinal acceleration via the TFT display in the instrument cluster.

The exterior of the Cayenne Turbo S lives up to the high standards of a top model. The front air intakes and rear view mirror trim are painted in high-gloss black. The standard 21-inch 911 Turbo II wheels with colored Porsche badges are exclusively tailored for the Cayenne Turbo S; their inside surfaces are painted in high-gloss black. The wheel arch extensions and rear spoiler separation edge are painted in exterior color. The model also features dual twin-tube sport tailpipes in polished Aluminum.

Porsche designers created an exclusive two-tone leather interior package that is available in either Black/Carrera Red or Black/Luxor Beige combinations. They feature an exclusive combination of contrasting colors and pieces that are further accented by deviated stitching throughout. Front and rear seats feature the Porsche Crest embossed on the headrests while the roof is covered in Alcantara® from front to rear. The instrument panel, door, and center console trim showcase the standard Carbon Fiber interior package that further complements the exclusive interior.

The Cayenne Turbo S is scheduled to go on sale at Beverly Hills Porsche in the spring of 2013 and is priced from $146,000 not including a $975 destination charge.

The Porsche 918 Spyder Dressed in Martini Racing Colors

Driving trials of the Porsche 918 Spyder have entered the next phase. A permanent fixture of the test program for the 918 Spyder – and in the tuning process for all Porsche vehicles – is the 12.92 mile (20.8 km) long Nordschleife of the Nürburgring race course with its many bends and selective passages. A lap time of less than seven minutes and 22 seconds is one of the development goals of the innovative plug-in hybrid drive super sports car.

The 918 Spyder, which is hardly an everyday vehicle, yet is well equipped for everyday tasks, combines a high-performance internal combustion engine with electric drives at the front and rear axles to achieve extraordinary driving performance and excellent efficiency. The system power of all three drives together is greater than 770 hp. The car’s fuel consumption is forecast to be around three liters per 100 km when tested on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), which is equivalent to CO2 emissions of about 70 g/km.

The monocoque, consisting of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), reduces the car’s weight and delivers remarkable rigidity and precision. Other highlights are the car’s variable aerodynamics; adaptive rear axle steering and “top pipes” exhaust system, which routes the pipes upwards. All of this makes the Porsche 918 Spyder a super sports car for the future, even though the styling of the prototype is reminiscent of historical models.

The latest test vehicle is now turning laps in the legendary Martini® Racing look of many historic Porsche racecars, particularly from the 1970s. More than nearly any other racecar design, the Martini® Racing livery quickly attained cult status and is still in vogue today. Martini® was the official partner of the Porsche factory team between 1973 and 1978.

Back then, the attractively designed “Martini® Porsche” racecars with their numerous victories were a topic of conversation. These victories included finishing first overall at the Targa-Florio in 1973, winning the Sports Car World Championship in 1976 and overall victories at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1976 and 1977. As early as 1971, a Porsche 917 finished first in the legendary endurance race in Le Mans with the support of Martini®. Whether a Porsche 908, 917, 935 or 936 or one of various 911 RS or RSR models, common to all of these race cars was the memorable Martini® Racing livery implemented in a wide variety of designs.

Porsche AG and the Martini® brand, represented by Bacardi & Company Limited of Switzerland, have signed a new partnership agreement to create a modern Martini® Racing design to be exclusively available on the innovative 918 Spyder.

Important Information about Porsche N Specification Tires, N-Spec

Porsche cars are often described as vehicles that "stick to the road." Sports car tires make a major contribution to this phenomenon. These tires are very complex products meeting numerous, largely contradictory demands. Finding the proper structure that balances these demands for any given application is the great challenge in tire design. Porsche N - Spec Tires
Porsche designs and manufacturers some of the highest performance vehicles in the world. Because of the integral role that tires play in vehicle performance, Porsche has integrated tire development throughout their process of vehicle development. To be an Original Equipment tire provider on a Porsche vehicle or be approved by Porsche for the replacement market requires the joint product development efforts of the tire engineers working alongside the Porsche vehicle engineers.

The focus in recent radial tire development for Porsche vehicles has primarily included optimum handling on dry surfaces and the safest possible behavior on wet surfaces, even at high speeds. Tires developed by various manufacturers, in concert with Porsche, offer a specific set of wet grip properties which few, if any, other automobile manufacturers demand in equal measure from the tires they use on their vehicles.

Tires may be specified for a particular vehicle or range of vehicles and must successfully pass the tire company's laboratory tests to assure that they would be capable of adequately supporting the Porsche vehicle while allowing it to reach its top speed on the German Autobahn. Additional laboratory, test track and race track tests are conducted to confirm that the prototype tires meet Porsche's noise, hydroplaning and handling requirements. Prototype tires will also be evaluated to assess their high-speed durability, uniformity and serviceability. Upon test completion, the tires will be released for production.

Production tires that have passed all of the tests and received the engineering department's release can be branded with an N-specification. The N-specification brandings include: N-0 (N-zero), N-1, N-2, N-3 or N-4. These markings on a tire's sidewall clearly identify them as approved by Porsche for their vehicles. The N-0 marking is assigned to the first approved version of a tire design. As that design is refined externally or internally, the later significant evolutions will result in a new generation of the tire to be branded with N-1, N-2, N-3, etc., in succession. When a completely new tire design is approved, it receives the N-0 branding and the succession begins again.

 It is recommended that only matching tires be used on Porsche vehicles. Since many Porsche vehicles are fitted with differently sized tires on their front and rear axles, this means matching the tire make, tire type and N-specification. If a vehicle was originally delivered with N-specification tires that have been discontinued and are no longer available, it is recommended to change all four tires to a higher numeric N-specification design appropriate for that vehicle. Mixed tire types are not advisable.

It is also important to know that while Porsche N-specification tires have been fine tuned to meet the specific performance needs of Porsche vehicles, the tire manufacturers may also build other tires featuring the same name, size and speed rating as the N-specification tires for non-Porsche applications. These tires may not be branded with the Porsche N-specification because they do not share the same internal construction and/or tread compound ingredients as the N-specification tires. Using tires that are not N-specific is not recommended and mixing them with other N-specification tires is not permissible.

Tires should be replaced no less than in pairs on one axle at a time. Only tires of the same tire make and type must be used. However, in case of tire damage such as cuts, punctures, cracks or sidewall bulges that cause a single tire to be replaced for safety reasons, the remaining matching tire on that axle must not exceed 30 percent wear. If the remaining tire has more than 30 percent wear from new, it should also be replaced. Handling inconsistencies may result if this is not done.

Initially, new tires do not offer their full traction. Drivers should therefore drive at moderate speeds during the first 60-100 miles (100-200 km). If new tires are installed on only one axle, a noticeable change in handling occurs due to the different tread depth of the other tires. This happens especially if only rear tires are replaced. However, this condition disappears as new tires are broken in. Drivers should adjust their driving style accordingly.

Porsche Turbocharges Twitter Fan and Customer Engagement

Beverly Hills Porsche @BevHillsPorsche has been rocking the Twittersphere for the last three years in the local Los Angeles market and now Porsche @Porsche is turbocharging the efforts worldwide via promoted tweets with fantastic engagement results! The Challenge

Originally introduced in 1963, the Porsche 911 sports car has a long, distinctive heritage and a devoted following of enthusiasts. To unveil the 2012 model, Porsche wanted to evoke that rich history and build excitement among loyal fans. Porsche viewed the launch of the seventh generation of the 911 sports car as a special opportunity to connect with car lovers in a way only their brand could.
“With this campaign, we wanted to highlight the iconic lineage of the brand,” says Joshua Cherfoli, Online and Relationship Marketing Manager at Porsche Cars North America. “We needed to create an interactive content experience that would resonate with audiences that are passionate about sports cars and about Porsche. The creative had to be something people would want to talk about and want to share because it felt personally meaningful.”

The Solution

As part of a deeply integrated TV, magazine, online display, search and social marketing campaign, Porsche ran a Promoted Trend campaign in the U.S. to launch the 2012 Porsche 911. To maximize the online buzz that was building about the big unveiling, the brand also used Promoted Tweets to seed the #2012Porsche911 hashtag in the days leading up to the Promoted Trend. These Promoted Tweets contained rich media (photos and videos) that highlighted the history of the 911 sports car. The brand included links to teaser videos that would be featured prominently and in greater depth during the day of the Promoted Trend.
For the 24 hours of the Promoted Trend, the brand steered the conversation to evocative content focused on the unique and devoted community of sports car enthusiasts. The text of the Promoted Tweets was simple but powerful: “Our identity, our promise: Forever the sports car.” The words pinpointed a tradition of incomparable passion, quality and design, enticing the user to click-through and experience the latest model. Porsche linked to dynamic video footage that captured proud owners of all seven generations of the Porsche 911 coming together to celebrate and race their cars.
“With the Promoted Trend and Promoted Tweets, we were able to drive consumers to amazing videos that showcase the spirit of the owner and fan base of the 911 in very unique ways,” says Mary Beugelsdijk, Omnicom Media Group, the media agency for Porsche Cars North America. “On Twitter, Porsche used video content assets in a way that felt special and compelling, making people more likely to share and interact with the content.”

The Results

The success of the #2012Porsche911 exceeded all expectations for the brand. In fact, Porsche set a new engagement record on Twitter at the time of the campaign: eight out of ten people who saw this Promoted Trend engaged with the associated hashtag. Porsche also drove an 87% engagement rate for a Promoted Tweet associated with a Promoted Trend—another engagement record. Twitter was also the top referral website for three out of the four videos Porsche featured in the campaign.
“A Promoted Trend is so impactful because consumers recognize something special is happening that’s buzz-worthy and that they want to be a part of,” says Beugelsdijk. “Twitter lets you speak to consumers throughout the day, amplify the real-time conversation around your brand and literally watch your message resonate as it gets shared.”
The record-breaking engagement rates of Porsche’s ad campaigns on Twitter reflect the loyalty and passion of Porsche fans as well as how compelling they found the Promoted Tweets spotlighting Porsche’s unique brand legacy. The campaign also helped Porsche reach a new audience. On the day of the Promoted Trend, @ gained 1,743 new followers—a 594% increase in follows compared to the daily average of the seven previous days.
The Porsche Promoted Trend also surpassed two category benchmarks. On the day of the Promoted Trend, Porsche saw an increase in positive brand sentiment over the prior week that was 300% above the category norm. Porsche also saw a significant increase in Tweets explicitly expressing the desire to purchase the Porsche 911.

The New Cayenne GTS Comes To Los Angeles This Summer

The question now has an answer. YES, the new Cayenne will come to Beverly Hills Porsche dressed to the nines and carrying the GTS badge! The Los Angeles debut of the new GTS Cayenne will be in August 2012.

The New Cayenne GTS
Porsche is set to unveil the second-generation Cayenne GTS at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, also known as Auto China, on April 24, 2012. Based on the Cayenne S, this new model is equipped with 20 additional horsepower, a 20 mm lower ride height and a lower final drive ratio for improved driving dynamics.

The latest Cayenne transmits power from its 420 hp V8 to an active All-Wheel-Drive system coupled to an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission with integrated Auto Start Stop function. The specially tuned engine and transmission combination enable the Cayenne GTS to sprint from a standing start to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and to achieve a top-track-speed of 162 mph.

The Cayenne GTS is recognizable from the outside by its high-gloss black trim, prominent side skirts and wider wheel arches as well as the hood and front fascia from the Cayenne Turbo. 20-inch RS Spyder wheels with a unique offset for the GTS are standard as are upgraded brakes from the Cayenne Turbo. Two new colors are available for the Cayenne GTS; Peridot Metallic and Carmine Red. A sport exhaust system with matte black twin tailpipes is standard.

Inside, the Cayenne GTS features exclusive GTS eight-way adjustable front sports seats with Alcantara accents. For the first time in the Cayenne, a new Sport Chrono package is now available to monitor the improved performance offered by the GTS model. Additionally, a Sound Symposer channels authentic engine intake sounds into the cabin. Varoom!

The 2013 Cayenne GTS will go on sale in the U.S. in August 2012, with a base MSRP of $82,050, not including a $975 delivery charge.

Porsche Race Event: 2012 California Festival of Speed

Fans, owners and the staff at Beverly Hills Porsche have been anxiously awaiting the return of the California Festival of Speed. This festival is the largest Porsche event in the western United States featuring PCA Club Racing, PCA Enduro, Time Trial, Coucours d'Elegance, and much more.



This 3-day (Friday–Sunday) event features a Zone 8 Time Trial event along with PCA Club Race warm up and practice laps Friday and Saturday. In addition, the 1-hour PCA Enduro will be on Saturday as well as the first PCA Club Race. Sunday will feature warm up, and qualifying PCA Club Race sessions as well as Sprint Races. There will be Time Trial sessions and timing on Sunday as well.

While the track is hot, there will be plenty of other activities vying for your attention.

There will be a scintillating Vendor Row! As in years past we're expecting exciting participants on Vendor Row including SoCal Porsche Dealers, Performance Products and much more.

Attracting Porsche fans of all ages are the parking corrals all three days featuring cars on display from the Early 911S Registry, Porsche 356 Club, RS America Registry and more. Bring a camera!

Each day time will be set aside at lunch for Lunch Time Track Tours behind a pace car. You'll have a chance to drive your own car on the famous AAA Speedway.

Instagram is a free photo sharing application that allows users to take a photo, apply a digital filter, then share it on a variety of social networking services including Instagram's own. A distinctive feature confines photos into a square shape, in homage to both the Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid cameras. This contrasts with the 4:3 aspect ratio more typically used by mobile device cameras.

New Porsche European Delivery Program

Porsche Cars North America today announced several enhancements to its European Delivery Program. The revised experience provides customers the opportunity to purchase their new Porsche vehicle from Beverly Hills Porsche in Los Angeles and take delivery of their new car at their choice of one of the automaker's two German factories. The program is now offered at no additional charge to our customers and includes access to discounted airfare and hotel accommodations.



Upon arrival in Germany, guests are provided with complimentary transportation from the airport to either Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, where the iconic 911, Boxster and Cayman sports cars are manufactured, or to Leipzig where the Cayenne SUV and Panamera Sport Sedans are produced. The customer can choose either location, regardless of the model purchased.

Both locations offer a factory tour, allowing guests to see first-hand how a Porsche automobile is created. For owners that choose Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, entry into the Porsche Museum is provided, where more than a half-century of Porsche sports and race car evolution is on display. Owners that choose the Leipzig factory will have the opportunity to drive a number of different Porsche models on the Test Track or test the capabilities of a Cayenne SUV off-road.

 Upon arrival at the factory, owners are presented with the keys to their new Porsche, after a thorough presentation of their vehicle by a trained expert in an exclusive setting. Special photographic opportunities exist using either the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart or the "Porsche Diamond," the main building at Leipzig, as a backdrop.



Guests are then able enjoy their new factory-fresh Porsche on the winding roads and autobahns of the region. The program allows guests to tour Europe, or stay in Germany for up to two weeks to explore the cities and countryside that inspired Porsche's unique design and exhilarating performance.

The comprehensive program, which started February 1st, 2012, includes factory delivery and all associated activities including temporary insurance, registration and winter tire usage (if needed. Catch A Tiger errr Porsche By Its Toe... Porsche Announces New SUV To Be Named Macan

Do I really have to holler?

The new smaller-than-a-Cayenne SUV growls over to Beverly Hills Porsche in Los Angeles in 2013 and will be called Macan.

Porsche has announced the new name of the upcoming smaller-than-a-Cayenne SUV Porsche's new sports car in the SUV segment has been given the name Macan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics, core characteristics of the new off-road car.



“The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of a SUV and is a genuine Porsche”, said Bernhard Maier, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG. “The name of a new Porsche has to fit with the brand, sound good in very many languages and dialects and evoke positive associations.”

As the fifth Porsche model line, the Macan is a central plank of Strategy 2018, by which the sports car manufacturer wishes to expand its model portfolio. Porsche intends the Macan to emulate the success of the Cayenne. The SUV will start coming off the production lines in Leipzig in 2013. To that end, the site in this city in Saxony is being expanded into a fully-fledged production plant including body assembly line and paint shop with 500 million euro of investment one of the biggest building projects in Porsche’s corporate history. In the medium-term, the sports car manufacturer will be creating more than 1,000 new jobs here.

Word names at Porsche have a concrete connection with the corresponding model and its characteristics: the name Boxster describes the combination of boxer engine and roadster, Cayenne stands for sharpness, the Cayman is snappy and agile and a Panamera is more than a Gran Tourismo, capable also of winning the Carrera Panamericana long-distance race.
