<br />
<br />
<strong></strong>Porsche is highlighting the 2015
convertible season by celebrating the world premiere of the new Boxster
Spyder. This pure sports car will make its debut at the New York
International Auto Show. The new top model of the Boxster range retains
the unique and unmistakable character of the previous Spyder, which has
already attained cult status. For example, the classic roadster top is
still opened and closed by hand, and the Boxster Spyder is only
available with a manual transmission, benefiting both weight savings and
driver enjoyment.<br />
<br />
Staying true to roadster DNA, the Boxster Spyder offers a traditional
sports-car driving experience combined with truly exceptional
performance. This includes a firm sport suspension with a 20-mm lower
ride height, brakes taken from the 911 Carrera S, more direct steering,
and a 3.8-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with an output
of 375 hp, culminating in a genuine sports car experience with
outstanding driving dynamics. It is the lightest model of the current
Boxster line, and the most powerful Boxster to date. Taking only 4.3
seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph, the Boxster Spyder has a top track
speed of 180 mph.<br />
<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">2015 Porsche Boxster Spyder Heading to Los Angeles</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
The distinctive design of the Boxster Spyder includes stylistic
elements reminiscent of legendary sports and race cars from Porsche. Two
prominent streamliners that extend down along the sweeping rear lid
behind the headrests pay tribute to the 718 Spyder from the 1960s. The
manually operated, lightweight top is suitable for everyday use with an
electric clasp, while bringing to mind roadsters from the past. The fins
that stretch back from the top to the rear lend the vehicle’s
silhouette its characteristic design. The front and rear fascia’s also
are unique to the Boxster Spyder, and an air outlet is located in front
of the forward luggage compartment.<br />
<br />
More so than in any other Boxster, the interior of the new Spyder
creates an atmosphere that elicits a feeling of pure driving pleasure.
The driver and passenger sit in standard Sport Seats Plus, while the new
steering wheel with a diameter of 360 mm (compared to 370 mm in other
Boxster models) helps ensure the mid-engine roadster can be driven
precisely and with great agility.<br />
<br />
In line with the model’s traditional roadster character, neither a
radio nor an air conditioner is included as standard equipment in order
to reduce weight. However, both can be ordered as optional equipment at
no cost. Furthermore, the entire range of Boxster audio systems is
available for customers to choose from as an option, including the
Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with navigation.<br />

<br />
<b><a href="http://www.beverlyhillsporsche.com/index.htm" target="_blank">Beverly Hills Porsche</a> is proud to announce the
addition of an exciting new member: the Cayman GT4. </b><br />
<br />
This is the first
Porsche GT sports car based on the Cayman and features components of the
911 GT3. Clocking a lap time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds on the North
Loop of the Nürburgring, the Cayman GT4 earns the same lap time as the
2011 911 GT3 and positions itself as the new benchmark atop its market
segment. The Cayman GT4 clearly demonstrates Porsche’s dedication and
passion to continue to promote truly industry-leading two-door sports
cars in the future – sports cars that are developed at the Motorsport
department in Weissach.<br /><br />The engine, chassis, brakes, and aerodynamic design of the Cayman GT4
are configured for maximum driving dynamics while retaining the
versatility and everyday utility that are typical of the two-seater
Porsche coupe. Powered by a 385 hp 3.8-liter flat-six engine derived
from the 911 Carrera S engine, the Cayman GT4 transmits its power solely
through a six-speed manual transmission with dynamic gearbox mounts.
Zero to 60 mph is accomplished in 4.2 seconds; its top track speed is
183 mph. The chassis – which features a 30 mm lower ride height and a
generously sized brake system – consists almost entirely of components
from the 911 GT3. <br /><br />The exterior of the Cayman GT4 highlights it as a member of the
Porsche GT family and provides a clear distinction to related mid-engine
coupes. Three pronounced inlet openings at the front and a large fixed
rear wing are part of an aerodynamic package which is systematically
designed for downforce. Upon request, the performance capabilities of
Cayman GT4 can be taken even further. Available options include the
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system, full bucket seats made of
carbon fiber composite, and a custom Sport Chrono Package featuring a
Track Precision app.<br />
<br />
The interior of the Cayman GT4 focuses on maximizing the experience
of unfiltered driving enjoyment for both driver and passenger. Standard
sport seats, which are upholstered in a combination of leather and
Alcantara®, offer excellent lateral support. The new Cayman GT4 sport
steering wheel guarantees ideal control and direct steering feedback due
to its compact dimensions.<br />
<br />
<div id="ext-gen2032">
Technical aspects of this new GT sports car are based on the 911 GT3.
As a mid-engine sports car and a prime example of driving dynamics in
its class, it follows the conceptual tradition of such cars as the 904
GTS, 911 GT1, Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. </div>

GT sports cars engineered by Porsche embody the most passionate
connection possible between everyday driving and Porsche’s competition

The Porsche Cayman GT4 celebrates its world premiere in early March
at the Geneva International Motor Show. This vehicle will arrive at
<a href="http://www.beverlyhillsporsche.com/index.htm" target="_blank">Beverly Hills Porsche</a> in July 2015. The starting MSRP for the Cayman GT4
is $84,600.

<br />
<strong></strong>Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca announced today that the next Porsche Rennsport Reunion will
again take place at the famed California racetrack the weekend of
October 9-11, 2015.<br />
<br />
Hosted by PCNA, Rennsport Reunion V will, once again, bring together
an extraordinary gathering of significant Porsche vintage and current
racecars, as well those who have designed, engineered, and driven them
to victory in the world’s most famous sports car races. The three-day
program of on-track competition will be complemented by a Concours
d’Elegance, which is open to invited race participants, and special
activities celebrating each of the six decades of legendary Porsche
racecars.<br />
<br />
This incomparable event has been held about every three years. After
staging the first three rounds in the East, with the inaugural at Lime
Rock Park in 2001, Rennsport Reunion IV moved west in 2011, tapping into
a vast array of west coast car aficionados and Porsche enthusiasts.
“While the Rennsport name from the beginning has become a staple fixture
for international collectors and racers, choosing the Monterey
Peninsula opened up this one-of-a-kind gathering to the many Porsche
fans in California and beyond who were previously unable to attend,”
said Detlev von Platen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche
Cars North America. “Approximately 40,000 spectators for the weekend,
and a record number of race cars and participants, proved that our
decision to come here was correct.”<br />
<br />
“After that truly rare gathering of significant Porsche racecars on
the West Coast in 2011, we can expect an even larger number of fans of
the Stuttgart sports car icon to attend next year,” predicted Gill
Campbell, CEO and general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “We are
proud that Porsche will come back to our track where it has a long
racing tradition, and my team and I look forward to help making this the
best Rennsport Reunion ever.”<br />
Porsche Rennsport Reunion V will assemble a wide variety of Porsche’s
most historic racing models from the nimble mid-engine 550 Spyder of
the mid-Fifties, through the mighty 917 and 956/962 of the Seventies and
Eighties, to the highly successful 911 GT3 RSR and RS Spyder of the
last decade. Special tribute will be paid to the car that embodies
Porsche’s return to the top of sports car racing. The 919 LMP1 Prototype
is the guarantee that Porsche motorsports - and Rennsport Reunion -
have a successful future.<br />
<br />
During Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV, approximately 1,300 Porsche Club
of America (PCA) member-owned Porsche models from the past 66 years
helped fill the show fields, race classes, and parking lots of Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca. For the upcoming fifth rendition, the PCA,
celebrating its 60th year in 2015, will once again play an integral
role, capping their year-long celebration. <br />
Future details will be published on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s website (http://
www.mazdaraceway.com), as they become available.<br />

It’s hard to believe that it was almost 20 years ago, in November 1988
to be exact, that Lori and I were spending a sunny Sunday morning at the
Pomona Swap Meet when a life changing event was about to take place for
the two of us. Lori and I had joined PCA in 1986, after purchasing our
first Porsche, and were extremely active Porschephiles to say the least.
Our personal calendar was set in January by blocking out all upcoming
year’s PCA dates (including the aforementioned swap meets). We read
Panorama cover to cover, as well as anything else Porsche related, and
were pretty up to date on things Porsche related. As a matter of fact
just a few weeks prior to the Swap Meet we read an article about the
oldest known existing 901 in the U.S., serial number 300032, being raced
in Historics at various locations. <br /><br />
What made our ability to recall the 300032 serial number important was
about to become clear to us. While strolling through the Porsche section
of vehicles, looking at both display and For Sale vehicles of all ages,
we noticed a bright red 911 with a sign indicating, “For Sale, 1966
911S, $4600” (yeah, I know there is no such animal, but the fellow
selling the car did not). It was clearly an early car, and the lack of
any indentations for decals in the engine compartment was something I
didn’t recall ever having seen. That led to a few more casual
observations, noting the lack of rocker panel trim, the four screw horn
grills (at least on one side), the “different looking” wood trim across
the dash. I finally asked to see the front compartment to check for
rust, but was really in search of the Porsche’s serial number. You
should note that while VIN number plates are riveted to the early cars
in three places, the serial number is also stamped in the vehicle in the
front compartment, pretty close to the heater compartment door. Anyway,
the sellers said sure, take a look, and opened the front lid for us to
examine. There, stamped into the car we saw the serial number, and it
was 300020. (Just to refresh your memory, the earliest known number we
had read about was 300032, 12 numbers newer than the car I was looking
at). <br /><br />
It’s at times like this when (if I could) I’d have danced a jig, or
screamed out what I’d discovered, or something equally as stupid.
Somehow I managed to bottle up my emotions, thank the guy for giving me a
look, and casually mention I’d ask my wife for her opinion. I gave
little hope of anything further happening, mentioned there was
significant rust, and wished him good luck in getting rid of it.<br /><br />
Lori and I made quickly for the closest Beer Stand, completely
disregarding the fact it was about 10:30 A.M., to calm shaking nerves,
to discuss the importance of what we had just found, and to decide what
to do next. The conclusion that we wanted the 901 was made quickly,
given it was really a 901. We concluded that, in order not to look
either too anxious or too stupid, we’d negotiate a better price and
condition the sale on our “mechanic” checking out the car. The actual
negotiations went pretty quickly, starting at an offer of $4000 a
compromise price of $4300 was agreed on, and it was decided we’d meet
the owner at his home in a couple of hours to pick up the car for
inspection. While waiting nervously for the assigned time, we called our
good friend Bob Cutshaw, a Porsche expert (and owner at that time of a
1965 911) and explained our situation. He agreed to attempt to confirm
the vehicle’s age that very afternoon, if we could simply drive out to
his house about 50 miles away. We agreed.<br /><br />
The trip out to Bob’s house was not without trepidation. The 901 felt
extremely loose (we learned why later), but we drove slowly and got
there in one piece. Bob spent quite a bit of time over, under, around
and through the car and confirmed that this was the real deal. He
commented that very first day, however, that we’d be money ahead to
simply cut out the factory serial number stamping, weld it into another
early car, and just say it was number 20. We all laughed, but in
hindsight, his estimate (at least in terms of dollars) may have been
understated. Nonetheless, we returned the car to the seller with check
in hand, got the pink and transfer docs from him, and headed home. We
now owned the oldest known 901 in the U.S., and as far as we knew
anywhere in the world. <br /><br />
That day was a milestone for sure, but it was only the very beginning of
a long, expensive and rewarding restoration project. While the details
of that is a story for another time, we’ve included a photo of the
finished 901 that was used in a European Car magazine cover story many
years later. While that’s part of the “other story”, we wanted you to
enjoy seeing what we ended up with. <br /><br /><br /><br />

<span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">
As I recall I left off with Lori and I, with the help of long time
friend Bob Cutshaw, determining our swap meet find was in fact a 901,
and the earliest production model known to exist at the time. We were
aware (thanks again to Panorama) that a prototype belonged to a
gentleman in, if memory serves, Philadelphia, but when we found 300020
(Number 20) that was unimportant to us. We were jazzed.<br /><br />
You know, you find something historic like this and you really have no
idea where you’re going to go next. Finding the car was like kismet, and
we literally felt that a restoration was almost like an obligation we
owed to the car. We simply knew it would have been “just plain wrong” to
walk away, or to advertise the car based on the serial number and sell
it for a quick profit. At the same time we knew we had zero idea of
exactly what it was to mean in terms of time and money to put the 901
back to its original condition, but nonetheless we knew we had to. <br /><br />
This dilemma simply pointed to just another of the many reasons why
belonging to PCA has been so great for so many years. Many Porsche folks
in southern California and beyond knew of a former IMSA driver turned
shop owner named Don Kravig. Don’s shop was the hangout in Riverside
California for all the local PCA members and bench racers. It was “the
place” to simply be around to hear the stories of yesterday, while
watching wonderful racing (and street) Porsches come in needing help,
and go out as Dr. Porsche intended (or maybe even better). Don was truly
a legend, having started the “Rowdy Riverside” region, having been the
Zone 8 rep, and simply not having one pretentious bone in his body.
We’ve all heard the expression that someone is simply “one of the nicest
guys I’ve ever met”, well that was Don Kravig.<br /><br />
Ultimately lots of our region’s PCA members and friends played roles in
the restoration of Number 20, but none larger than Don. First off, he
agreed to do his work on 20’s restoration at a discounted rate given
we’d let him do it as “fill-in” work. We agreed to that without
hesitation, figuring that most of everything would need to be rebuilt,
and then reassembled. I did quite a bit of the disassembly to start the
project, with Lori taking zillions of photos to be used (we thought) for
putting it all back together. In fact tons of the parts were wrong (not
from 1964, hence wrong), so the pictures now simply serve as a reminder
of the scope of the effort. <br /><br />
Don completed the rough body work, which required removing the pan that
was nothing more than pop riveted sheet metal with resin floated over
it, and the rocker panels. One of the door panels had been repaired with
a flattened Coors beer can after some other misadventure. The overall
story goes that the 901 must have been parked on ice in winter, and not
retrieved before the thaw. The rocker panels were full of silt, like
you’d find in a river bed. We’d never know if that was true, but it made
a great story to match the fact that virtually everything below about 6
inches up the side of the body needed to be refabricated (yeah, not
replaced, refabricated). <br /><br />
Once all the mechanicals were out of 20, and the basic structural work
was completed, Don, Lori and I took off for Reno Nevada. You may
remember that Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) used to have a
distribution center in Reno, as well as a restoration facility. We
discovered this while on a PCA tour to the facility to test drive every
car in the Porsche line-up in 1991. It was then we determined that,
while it would have no doubt been cheaper to use a local body and paint
shop, it was clearly more appropriate to go to Reno and have the
“factory guys” do the work. The trip up, sitting three abreast in Don’s
flatbed, was completed at somewhat higher than posted speeds. I will
always remember the sensation of drifting in a flatbed truck, and when
saying I didn’t know that was possible, Don winking and saying something
to the effect that you can drift in any vehicle if you know how. <br /><br />
We got to Reno, dropped off 20, and agreed to return the following week
to see what the removal of the paint would do to PCNA’s estimate. The
next week Lori and I flew up. The 901 really didn’t have many body
panels that were without damage, but we managed to agree to a “not to
exceed” price for all the repair, straightening, bodywork, and painting.
<br /><br />
There were numerous hiccups along the way (like when they tried to
repair the dent in the gas tank and ended up “exploding” it – a $2000
oops they graciously absorbed), but too many to write about. I’ll be
happy to recount them in person, just ask. In any event, months later
the Reno portion of the 901 restoration was completed. After revising
their billing rate from customer rate to shop rate to minimize the
impact, they still had exceeded their estimate by $6000. I was, and
still am, impressed by the fact that while I was made aware of the
overage, they completed all the work in an outstanding manner and held
firm on their original estimate. In my opinion too many companies either
tell you they were short on the bid and ask for the money, or work up
to the agreed upon dollar amount and then stop. Not Porsche.<br /><br />
It seems to me this is a great place to stop the story for now. We still
have to go get 20, bring her back to southern California, and do lots
more before the 1992 Porsche Parade in San Diego we’d been aiming for. <br /><br />
I really do hope you are getting as much of a kick out of this story as I am the trip down memory lane. There’s more to come…<br /><br /><br /><br />

<span style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">
I believe I ended last month’s part of this story with our 901 being
firmly ensconced at the PCNA Restoration Facility in Reno Nevada. As
time passed by it seemed like the call from the Porsche in Reno telling
us our 901 was ready to pick up would never come, but after months of
body and paint work the phone finally rang. Our late friend Don Kravig
again volunteered to head north to Reno with Lori and I to pick it up
and bring it home. The trip up was again lots of fun, but nothing
compared to finally seeing the 901 in person. Having not seen this car
fresh off the assembly line in Germany back in 1964 I really can’t
compare it then to how it looked in Reno, but if anything the 901 may
have even been too perfect. Over the years in PCA we’d been to hundreds
of Concours, and seen many beautifully restored Porsches, but the 901
was simply breathtaking. It may just have been pride of ownership, but
my main concern immediately switched to how we could possibly finish all
the remaining restoration steps without doing any damage to our
beautiful Porsche. The trip home was uneventful, as Don had done this
many times before and not burdened by my unfounded “we’ll hurt it”
concerns. Once back at Precision Motion in Riverside we did the first of
what would be numerous quite well attended PCA 901 parties, this first
one with a “welcome home” theme.<br /><br />
The months that followed were again at a “fill-in” labor rates to keep
the ever expanding budget as under control as possible. Nonetheless the
1992 Porsche Parade in San Diego was approaching, and the job of
locating and obtaining numerous missing pieces, and to putting the 901
back together became a priority. There will literally bazillions of
small items to collect, but Don assured us he’d handle the mechanical
items if we could come up the interior stuff. We agreed and set out to
find the missing pieces. Three major pieces stick with me clearly to
this day. <br /><br />
First was the steering wheel, which while similar to other early 911
wood wheels, differed in that the wheel was lighter due to having an
aluminum spine. The weight might not have been noticeable once
installed, but the very early 911 steering wheel spine was also exposed
around the entire center of the wheel. The only one I knew of belonged
to our friend Bob Cutshaw (the guy we took the car to for some sort of
certification on the day we had found it years prior). Bob mentioned it
was the only thing left from his own early 911, and that he really
didn’t want to part with it. Thus began months of searching, which
ironically ended up pretty much in our backyard. Being PCAers you
probably have heard of Parts Obsolete in McMinnville Oregon. What some
of you might not know is that they used to be located in Costa Mesa
California, and were know as Porsche Parts Obsolete. I called them from
Riverside and asked about the steering wheel. The small world part is
that one of the owners and I had gone to the same high school (Costa
Mesa High), and when discussing what the project was they are agreed to
sell me a correct steering wheel. It was cracked and in need of repair
however, so while the price was good. The steering wheel reminds me of
the next noteworthy missing item.<br /><br />
The second item was the wood for the dash. The 901 came with some of the
wood dash pieces still in place, but not all of them. It should be
noted that the early 911 wood dashes had a thin metal backing on them to
retain their shape and allow for removal and replacement. The 901 wood
dashes had no such backing, so removing them effectively destroyed them.
During our months (years actually) of searching out other parts I came
upon a (complete) set, which was also in sad condition. While the pieces
were not restorable, they were good enough to be used as templates for a
wood craftsman to fabricate a completely new set. A friend of ours,
Sandy Dustman, who lived in Cambria California at the time, in addition
to being a craftsman, was a car nut. Once the project was described he
was on board, and actually made a complete set of wood pieces from a
single piece of teak that had come from a U.S. Navy ship which an been
decommissioned after the first Gulf War. The dash came out beautifully,
and when I showed him the damaged steering wheel he agreed to make it
look like new too. Hence a matching set, the steering wheel and dash
wood looked perfect.<br /><br />
The interior of the 901 was sort of a mystery until late in the process.
Small pieces were actually direct carryovers from the 356C, including
the coat hooks and headliner material. I confirmed this by calling Dr.
Brett Johnson, the author of the Porsche Guide to Authenticity series of
books. It was quite nice of him to take the time to pull out his notes
from his 911 research of years prior in order to provide us with this
missing information. The real fun part, when I was disassembling the
seat mechanisms, was the discovery of the black and white herringbone
material. It had always been our thought that the 901 might have used
this material, but at that time no one had been able to confirm it for
us. Finding small scraps remaining on the seat after one or more
upholstery jobs were removed was wonderful. To make this finding even
more fortuitous, when the 901 went to Auto International in Solana Beach
California (they’ve moved since then), they had just enough original
factory material remaining to do one more set of seats. Timing is
everything, and time was running out to be ready for the Parade.<br /><br />
The 1992 Porsche Parade was held in San Diego California. The 901
literally had the final restoration steps completed just two days prior
to loading it back on Don Kravig’s flatbed truck for the short trip down
the freeway for the Concours. The morning of the Parade Concours at
Mission Bay was foggy, so lots of cleaning on site was needed to get the
901 ready to show. Again, as throughout this wonderful experience, lots
of our PCA Riverside friends were on hand to pitch in with final
preparations and simply as a cheering squad. When the scores were posted
the 901 had won its class and we brought out the champagne for everyone
to celebrate. Another close PCA friend and mentor, Bill Barnard, was
able to see the 901 win a trophy at the Concours Banquet that same
evening. Bill has actually gotten Lori and I into PCA in 1986, and was a
head cheerleader on this project in spite of failing health. Bill’s
condition worsened the day after the banquet, and he returned home to
the desert. He passed away on the Thursday of Parade Week, and black
armbands could be seen at every remaining Parade event. Nonetheless, our
last memories of Bill where wonderful ones of his enjoying seeing the
901 he loved as much as we did being victorious. <br /><br />
Lori and I held onto the 901 for a few more years. When we decided it
was time to make room for new projects we contacted a broker named Sam
Cabiglio to see about finding it a new home. Sam is a broker, who among
other clients, buys and sells all of Jerry Seinfeld’s Porsches for him.
Knowing that we were hoping the 901 might end up in the Seinfeld
collection, but as it turned out the new owner was a gentleman from
Newport Beach. The 901 went out of sight for many years after he
purchased it until, as we were told by Sam, the new owner became ill and
decided to donate the 901 to the Peterson Auto Museum in Port Angeles.
Before moving to Washington Lori and I visited the car at the Peterson
on more than one occasion. We met the curator and, after proving we had
in fact owned the 901, we discussed our involvement in restoring the
901. The stories we told the curator as pretty much what you have been
reading in these three 901 articles. As thanks providing this further
background information Lori and I were given a personal tour of the
museum and (even better at the time) all the “other cars” in the
non-public basement. The following photo was taken of the 901 in the
Peterson basement, where it still resides.<br /><br />
As I mentioned previously, I hope you enjoying taking this little trip
down memory lane with me. I know there are lots more details and
antidotes, so if you are interested just let me know at our next event
and I’ll talk your ear off.<br /><br />

The Los Angeles area is not only home to one of the most important auto shows
of the year, it is also Porsche’s most important market with 17 percent of all
cars sold in the U.S. Given the Los Angeles area’s proximity to such a large
number of Porsche customers, the company is currently building a first of its
kind experience center in the area. At the end of next year, the new Porsche
Experience Center Los Angeles will offer a world class test track and handling
course, including special surfaces which replicate inclement weather conditions
where customers and auto enthusiasts can hone their driving skills and try out
the latest Porsche models. The experience center, located in Carson, California,
will also be the new home of Porsche Motorsport North America, currently located
in Santa Ana, California.<br />

Beverly Hills Porsche is the largest volume dealer in the Western United States and is centrally located to all of Los Angeles.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Stanley Gold's Peking to Paris Porsche Rally Car</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Stanley Gold calls it “the adventure of a lifetime” – this summer he
drove a car from Beijing to Paris, 7,610 miles through eight countries
in a race that has only been held five times since 1907. On September
26th the Los Angeles World Affairs Council will hold a dinner at the
Petersen Automotive Museum to hear Stanley’s story of the fabled “Peking
to Paris Rally” and watch a video of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/classic-cars-race-in-peking-to-paris-rally-2013-6?op=1">100 classic and vintage cars </a>in
this year’s rally making their way across deserts, steppes and
snow-covered mountain passes. At the dinner guests can tour the
Petersen’s extensive car collection, which will include – for one night -
Stanley’s 48-year old Porsche 911 that made the journey, more or less
in one piece. Executive Director of the Petersen Terry Karges will give a
brief talk about the museum's <a href="http://www.petersen.org/new/">sensational renovation plans.</a> <br />
<br />
The first <a href="http://www.endurorally.com/pages/5th-peking-to-paris-rally-2013">“Peking to Paris Rally" </a>in
1907 was won by an Italian Prince, Scipione Borghese, who took tea with
the Emperor in Beijing before he left, and stopped off in St Petersburg
for a social call on the Tsar on his way through. With no emperors or
tsars left on their thrones, Stanley shared Oreos and canned tuna with
Mongolian nomads in a smoky yurt and drank Moscow Mules with Russian
office workers on his 33-day odyssey. His front suspension broke while
driving off-road in Mongolia, which required airlifting in spare parts
from Europe. When he crossed into Russia from Mongolia the female border
guard audibly called him “Crazy.” In Kiev, Ukraine, he had lunch at the
second-largest grossing McDonald’s in the world. In Switzerland he had
to negotiate falling snow on steep mountain roads. And he didn’t get a
single ticket for his white Porsche 911 along the whole journey. <br />
<br />
As it happens, the iconic Porsche 911 has its 50th anniversary this
year. The Petersen will put some other Porsches on display, including
one of the first 911s ever built (it was called a 901 back then).
Beverly Hills Porsche will show a liveried version of Porsche’s
newly-designed 50-year anniversary edition of the 911, just now coming
off the assembly line in Stuttgart. <br />
<br />
The dinner menu, personally designed by Patina's Master Chef Joachim
Splichal, will mirror the route of the rally, with food inspired by
Chinese, Russian and French cuisine. Stanley, a former Disney board
member and past chairman of the board of trustees at USC, runs Shamrock
Holdings, is on the board of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, and
is a keen collector of Porsches. Very keen. He next plans to race from
Singapore to Rangoon through South East Asian rainforests.<br />

<b>Everyone knows the best parties are in Beverly Hills!</b> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Beverly Hills Porsche decided to kick off the summer early with a "day at the races" style launch event to introduce the all new 2014 Porsche Cayman.</div>
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="225" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/at81sDJPwag" width="400"></iframe><br />
<br />
Los Angeles weather always seems to cooperate and this night was no exception! The guests and cars were HOT, HOT, HOT!<br />
<br />
In the main courtyard a pair of Guards Red Caymans sat side by side showing off the evolution of this track inspired, mid-engine master work. Inside five more Cayman and Cayman S coupes were lined up in racing positions ready to welcome customers and prospects.<br />
<br />
Rob and Oliver from the Munchie Machine hand fired gourmet s'mores while on the other side of the plaza Thom served up Hawaiian style shave ice from his Rockin Ice truck. Fire and Ice!<br />
<br />
Christian's #1 Currywurst of Los Angeles grilled up Berlin style curry-wurst and Bavarian brats while Justin's Lobsta Truck toasted up lobster rolls pure east coast style.<br />
<br />
Thanks goes to Fabryce of GMG Racing for bringing their Porsche GT3 RS and GT3 Cup race cars. Rich from Porsche Sport Driving School was on hand to show Porsche's commitment to fun and safety through extended driver education, on a racetrack of course.<br />
<br />
And a very special thanks to Kitchen 12000 for pulling it all together!<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">2014 Porsche Panamera S Coming to Beverly Hills</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Porsche is introducing its first plug-in hybrid and two new extended
wheelbase variants with the second generation of the Panamera. The new
Panamera S E-Hybrid produces 416 total system horsepower and is joined
by Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive models in the
revised Panamera lineup perfect for the Beverly Hills Executive. <br />
<br />
Further, S models are now powered by an entirely new 3.0-liter V6
engine with twin turbochargers. The broadest model range in its class
has been further expanded, now consisting of nine models for the U.S.
market. New and further-developed technologies offer improved
performance while also enhancing fuel efficiency and comfort. The new
Panamera is characterized by tighter lines, more pronounced contours and
newly shaped body elements. The refreshed Panamera celebrates its world
debut at Auto China in Shanghai, which opens on April 21, where further
details on the new models will be revealed.<br />
<br />
<b>Panamera S E-Hybrid sets new standards in performance, efficiency, and convenience in everyday use.</b><br />
<br />
The new Panamera S E-Hybrid improves upon the concept offered by the
previous Panamera S Hybrid with a more powerful electric motor, a
higher-performance battery that supplies more energy and is able be
recharged from home or public vehicle charging stations. The electric
drive produces 95 hp, more than double the power of the previous model’s
electric motor (47 hp). Electricity is stored in a newly developed
lithium-ion battery, which at 9.4 kWh has increased capacity over the
previous battery (1.7 kWh). Via the integrated on-board charging
componentry and the standard Porsche Universal Charger (AC), the battery
can reach full charge within approximately two and a half hours when
connected to a 240V power source.<br />

<br />
The Panamera S E-Hybrid expands upon the driving performance of the
previous generation, while fuel consumption is reduced when compared to
the previous Panamera S Hybrid. Final U.S. EPA fuel economy ratings will
be available closer to launch. Simultaneously, its electric-only
driving performance is substantially improved, enhancing acceleration,
range, and top speed. Electric-only driving is possible without any fuel
consumption or local emissions, which is especially advantageous in
city driving. The electric driving range of the Panamera S E-Hybrid is
estimated to be greater than 20 miles based upon current NEDC testing.
Driving range may vary in real world operation, due to the effects of
environmental conditions, terrain, air conditioning and heating use,
driving style and other factors. The Panamera S E-Hybrid can reach up to
84 mph in all-electric operation.<br />
<br />
The Panamera S E-hybrid is capable of accelerating from a standstill
to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, an improvement of a half second when compared
to the Panamera S Hybrid. An electric boost function helps in instances
where maximum acceleration is desired, when the electric motor works in
tandem with the combustion engine during acceleration. Electric boost is
also available when a kick-down switch in the throttle pedal is
activated by the driver during acceleration.<br />
<br />
The car’s top track speed is 167 mph. The parallel full hybrid system
developed by Porsche also offers “coasting” at higher speeds, a mode
wherein the internal combustion engine is turned off and the electric
motors use vehicle momentum to generate electricity that is stored in
the lithium-ion battery.<br />
<br />
The Panamera S E-Hybrid also includes an entirely new range of
convenience functions which can be activated and operated by Porsche Car
Connect, a mobile app available for Android and iOS-powered devices.
These functions include a charge status indicator and the ability to
control the vehicle’s new auxiliary climate control option, which
enables vehicle preheating or cooling via the Porsche Car Connect app.
These functions can also be programmed from inside the vehicle. A mobile
device may also be used for remote access to vehicle information, such
as remaining driving range or vehicle location. Other functions not
specific to the hybrid drive will also be available as options for other
Panamera models via the Porsche Car Connect mobile app.<br />
<br />
<img alt="porsche panamera executive model " height="266" src="http://press.porsche.com/news/images/Panamera_2014_b.jpg" title="Porsche Panamera Executive Model Beverly Hills" width="400" /><br />
<b>Long wheelbase, spacious rear seating area: Executive models feature extra comfort for Beverly Hills Executives</b><br />
<br />
The two full-sized rear bucket seats offered in the Panamera have
proven so successful that Porsche is expanding this generous rear
passenger compartment room with two new Panamera Executive models. The
new Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive models feature a
wheelbase extended by 5.9 inches, enabling even more rear seating
comfort and come with an extensive range of standard features. For
example, all Executive models are equipped with Adaptive air-suspension
featuring Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which combines
superior performance and enhanced ride comfort.<br />
<br />
<b>More performance and efficiency in a smaller powerplant: the new twin-turbo V6 engine</b><br />
<br />
Increasing both performance and efficiency has long been a core
Porsche philosophy. In the new Panamera, this approach takes form in a
3.0-liter V6 engine with twin turbochargers. The twin-turbo V6 replaces
the naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 engine in the previous-generation
Panamera S and Panamera 4S. The new bi-turbo engine is also used in the
Executive version of the Panamera 4S. The engine’s figures themselves
are indicators of progress: increases of 20 hp and 15 lb-ft torque when
compared to the outgoing V8 engine. Carefully-managed turbocharging
ensures that the maximum 384 lb-ft torque is available across most of
the twin-turbo V6’s operating range.<br />
<br />
With the exception of the Panamera S E-Hybrid, all Panamera models
are equipped with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK);
the Panamera S E-Hybrid uses the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic. The
PDK transmission works in tandem with other vehicle systems to enhance
fuel savings in the new generation Panamera. For example, the optimized
engine Auto Start Stop feature now turns the engine off earlier while
coasting to a stop. With the exception of the Panamera GTS, models with
PDK also offer a coasting function in which the clutches open in overrun
allowing the engine to idle and the vehicle to coast freely. This
function can significantly improve fuel economy, especially when
traveling on the highway.<br />
<br />
<b>Revised exterior with a new option: LED headlights</b><br />
<br />
Exterior design changes of the new Panamera are extensive. The
tighter and more prominent lines up front are especially apparent in the
larger air intakes and the transition to the headlights. Perhaps the
most distinguishing feature of the new generation Panamera is a new
trunk lid; its laterally stretched glass emphasizes the vehicle’s width
and makes for a more aggressive stance. Rear body proportions were also
changed. A larger automatically deploying spoiler and a tighter
transition to the rear lights complement the treatment at the front of
the vehicle noted above.<br />
<br />
The new Panamera continues the tradition of multiple options that
enable owners to customize the look and function of their vehicles.
Full-LED headlights, which lend the new generation a striking
appearance, are now an option.<br />
<br />
In addition, an expanded lineup of assistance systems is available
for safety and convenience. The revised adaptive cruise control system
is now offered with Porsche Active Safe (PAS). This system visually and
audibly alerts the driver in the event of a sudden decrease in following
distance and briefly tugs on the brakes. It can also intervene in the
braking process and apply increased braking pressure in an emergency
braking situation, if required. Another new feature, camera-based lane
departure warning, offers greater convenience and safety in city and
highway travel.<br />
<br />
The new generation of Panamera models will be available at Beverly Hills Porsche in Los Angeles starting late
in 2013. Panamera Turbo S and Panamera Turbo S Executive variants will
be available in 2014.<br />

International Motor Show. The completely-redeveloped fifth generation
of the 911 GT3 occupies the top position among Porsche sports cars with
naturally-aspirated engines. With an impressive lap time on the
Nürburgring Nordschleife of under 7:30 minutes, the 2014 911 GT3
benefits from a new engine, transmission, body and chassis. The car now
sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds on its way to a top track
speed of 195 mph. The 2014 911 GT3 will go on sale at <a href="http://www.beverlyhillsporsche.com/index.htm" target="_blank">Beverly Hills Porsche</a>
late in 2013 and will be priced from $130,400, not including a $950
destination charge.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="225" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/dXOdiF4wbNU" width="400"></iframe>
<br />
As a technical highlight, the 911 GT3 features the first active
rear-wheel steering in a production Porsche, as well as optional full
LED headlights. The new GT3 brings to everyday driving many of the
properties of a sports car developed on the track, and preserves the
highly emotional fun factor.<br />
The powertrain of the new 911 GT3 is composed of a 3.8-liter boxer
engine yielding 475 hp (125 hp/liter) featuring a 9,000 rpm redline and a
specially developed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) which drives
the rear wheels. The six-cylinder engine is based on the same engine as
the 911 Carrera S, although they share only a few common parts. All
other components, particularly the crankshaft and valve gear, were
specially adapted or designed for the GT3. For instance, Porsche
designed titanium connecting rods and forged pistons for this engine.<br />
<br />
The Porsche dual-clutch transmission in this application has been
specially developed for the 911 GT3: the characteristics are based
directly on a sequential gearbox from racing, thereby providing further
performance and dynamic advantages to the driver. Highlights include
shorter gear ratios with closer spacing, even faster shifting, and shift
paddles with shorter travel and increased tactile feedback, which now
allow the driver to place the PDK in neutral simply by pulling on both
paddles at the same time.<br />
<br />
For the first time, Porsche is employing active rear wheel steering
to achieve even higher steering precision and improved lateral dynamics.
Depending on the speed, the rear wheels steer in the same or opposite
direction of the front wheels, improving stability and agility. Other
new features that improve driving dynamics are an electronically
controlled, fully variable rear differential lock and dynamic engine
mounts. Contact with the road is made by new 20-inch, forged alloy
wheels with center-locking hubs in place of conventional wheel bolts.<br />
<br />
The 2014 911 GT3 is based on the light yet stiff body of the current
generation 911 Carrera, which employs a hybrid steel and aluminum
construction; however, it comes with unique front and rear parts
specific to the GT3. In addition, the 911 GT3 is 1.7 inches wider than a
911 Carrera S in the rear. Another distinctive feature is the large,
fixed rear wing, which contributes to the exemplary aerodynamics.<br />
<br />
By combining low air resistance with even more power, the 2014 911
GT3 sets new performance standards. At full acceleration from
standstill, the 60 mph mark is reached after just 3.3 seconds, and on
the track 124 mph is reached in less than twelve seconds.<br />

The Wrecking Crew was a nickname coined by drummer Hal Blaine for a group of session musicians in Los Angeles, California, who played anonymously on many records in the 1960s. They backed dozens of popular singers, and were one of the most successful groups of studio musicians in music history.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">50 Years of Porsche 911</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
For five decades, the 911 has been the heart of the Porsche brand.
Few other automobiles in the world can look back on such a long
tradition and with such genuine continuity as the Porsche 911. It has
been inspiring car enthusiasts the world over since its debut as the
Type 901 at the IAA International Automotive Show in September 1963.
Today it is considered the quintessential sports car, the benchmark for
all others. The 911 is also the central point of reference for all other
Porsche series. From the Cayenne to the Panamera, every Porsche is the
most sporting automobile in its category, and each one carries a piece
of the 911 philosophy.<br />
<br />
More than 820,000 Porsche 911s have been built, making it one of the
most successful sports cars in the world. For each of its seven
generations the engineers in Zuffenhausen and Weissach have reinvented
it, time and time again demonstrating to the world the innovative power
of the Porsche brand. Like no other vehicle, the 911 reconciles apparent
contradictions such as sportiness and everyday practicality, tradition
and innovation, exclusivity and social acceptance, design and
functionality. It is no wonder that each generation has written its own
personal success story. Ferry Porsche best described its unique
qualities: “The 911 is the only car you could drive on an African safari
or at Le Mans, to the theater or through New York City traffic.”<br />
<br />
In addition to its classic yet unique lines, the Porsche 911 has
always been distinguished by its advanced technology. Many of the ideas
and technologies that made their debut in the Porsche 911 were conceived
on the race track. The 911 was committed to the performance principle
from the start, and motor racing is its most important test lab. From
the very beginning it has been at home on circuits all over the world,
earning a reputation as a versatile and dependable winner. Indeed, a
good two thirds of Porsche's 30,000 race victories to date were notched
up by the 911.<br />
<br />
<b>How Porsche celebrates the anniversary</b><br />
<br />
For Porsche, the 50th anniversary of this iconic sports car is the
central theme of 2013. There will be a wide variety of anniversary
events, starting with the “Retro Classics” automobile show in Stuttgart.
From March 7-10 the Porsche Museum will ring in the anniversary year
with four special exhibits: an early-model 911 Turbo Coupe, a 911
Cabriolet study from 1981, a 1997 street version 911 GT1 and the
pre-series Type 754 T7. This chassis by Professor Ferdinand Alexander
Porsche was a milestone on the way to the 911 design.<br />

The company is also sending an authentic 1967 model 911 on a world
tour. Over the course of the year, this vintage 911 will travel to five
continents where it will be shown in places like Pebble Beach, Calif.,
Shanghai, Goodwood, U.K., Paris and Australia. As an ambassador for the
Porsche brand, this vintage 911 will be in attendance at many
international fairs, historical rallies and motor sport events. Fans and
interested individuals can follow the car’s progress at <a href="http://porsche.com/follow-911" target="_blank">http://porsche.com/follow-911</a>.<br />
<br />
The Porsche Museum is celebrating “50 years of the Porsche 911” from
June 4 - Sept. 29, 2013, with a special exhibition featuring the history
and development of the 911. In the spring the museum’s own publishing
house, Edition Porsche-Museum, will publish an anniversary edition
entitled “911x911.”<br />

As the successor to the Porsche 356, the 911 won the hearts of sports
car enthusiasts from the outset. The prototype was first unveiled at
the Frankfurt IAA Motor Show in 1963 as the 901, and renamed the 911 for
its market launch in 1964. Its air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine
delivered 130 hp, giving it an impressive top speed of 131 mph.<br />

If you
wanted to take things a little slower, starting in 1965 you could also
opt for the four-cylinder Porsche 912. In 1966 Porsche presented the 160
hp 911 S, which was the first to feature forged alloy wheels from
Fuchs. The 911 Targa, with its distinctive stainless steel roll bar,
made its debut in late 1966 as the world's first ever safety cabriolet.
The semiautomatic Sportomatic four-speed transmission joined the lineup
in 1967. With the 911T of the same year, and the later E and S variants,
Porsche became the first German manufacturer to comply with strict US
exhaust emission control regulations. The Porsche 911 became more and
more powerful as displacement increased, initially to 2.2 liters (1969)
and later to 2.4 (1971).<br />

<br />
Ten years after its premiere, the engineers at Porsche gave the 911
its first thorough makeover. The G model was produced from 1973 to 1989,
longer than any other 911 generation. It featured prominent bellows
bumpers, an innovation designed to meet the latest crash test standards
in the United States. Occupant protection was further improved by
three-point safety belts as standard equipment, as well as integrated
headrests. One of the most important milestones in the 911 saga was the
1974 unveiling of the first Porsche 911 Turbo with a three-liter 260 hp
engine and enormous rear spoiler. With its unique blend of luxury and
performance, the Turbo became synonymous with the Porsche mystique. The
next performance jump came in 1977 with the intercooler-equipped 911
Turbo 3.3. At 300 hp it was the best in its class. In 1983 the naturally
aspirated 911 Carrera superseded the SC; with a 3.2 liter 231 hp
engine, it became a favorite collectors’ item. Starting in 1982, fresh
air enthusiasts could also order the 911 as a Cabriolet. The 911 Carrera
Speedster, launched in 1989, was evocative of the legendary 356 of the
fifties.<br />

<br />
Just when automotive experts were predicting the imminent end of an
era, in 1988 Porsche came out with the 911 Carrera 4 (964). After 15
years of production, the 911 platform was radically renewed with 85
percent new components, giving Porsche a modern and sustainable vehicle.
Its air-cooled 3.6 liter boxer engine delivered 250 hp. Externally,
the 964 differed from its predecessors only slightly, in its aerodynamic
polyurethane bumpers and automatically extending rear spoiler, but
internally it was almost completely different. The new model was
designed to captivate drivers not only with sporty performance but also
with enhanced comfort. It came with ABS, Tiptronic, power steering, and
airbags, and rode on a completely redesigned chassis with light alloy
control arms and coil springs instead of the previous torsion-bar
suspension. A revolutionary member of the new 911 line right from the
start was the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 model. In addition to Carrera
Coupé, Cabriolet and Targa versions, starting in 1990 customers could
also order the 964 Turbo. Initially powered by the proven 3.3 liter
boxer engine, in 1992 the Turbo was upgraded to a more powerful 360 hp
3.6 liter power plant. Today, the 964 Carrera RS, 911 Turbo S, and 911
Carrera 2 Speedster are in particularly high demand among collectors.<br />

The 911 with the internal design number 993 remains the one true love
of many a Porsche driver. The remarkably pleasing design has much to do
with this. The integrated bumpers underscore the smooth elegance of its
styling. The front section is lower-slung than on the earlier models,
made possible by a switch from round to polyellipsoid headlights. The
993 quickly gained a reputation for exceptional dependability and
reliability. It was also agile, as the first 911 with a newly designed
aluminum chassis. The Turbo version was the first to have a bi-turbo
engine, giving it the lowest-emission stock automotive powertrain in the
world in 1995. The hollow-spoke aluminum wheels, never before used on
any car, were yet another innovation of the all-wheel drive Turbo
version. The Porsche 911 GT2 was aimed at the sports car purist who
cherished the thrill of high speeds. An electric glass roof that slid
under the rear window was one of the innovations of the 911 Targa. But
the real reason dyed-in-the-wool Porsche enthusiasts still revere the
993 is that this model, produced from 1993 to 1998, was the last 911
with an air-cooled engine.<br />

<br />
The 996, which rolled off the assembly line from 1997 to 2005,
represented a major turning point in the history of the 911. It retained
all the character of its classic heritage, but was an entirely new
automobile. This comprehensively redesigned generation was the first to
be driven by a water-cooled boxer engine. Thanks to its four-valve
cylinder heads it achieved 300 hp and broke new ground in terms of
reduced emissions, noise, and fuel consumption. The exterior design was a
reinterpretation of the 911's classic line, but with a lower drag
coefficient (cW) of 0.30. The lines of the 996 were also a result of
component sharing with Porsche’s successful Boxster model. Its most
obvious exterior feature were the headlights with integrated turn
signals, at first controversial but later copied by many other
manufacturers. On the inside, drivers experienced an entirely new
cockpit. Driving comfort now also played a greater role alongside the
typical sporty characteristics. With the 996 Porsche launched an
unprecedented product offensive with a whole series of new variations.
The 911 GT3 became one of the highlights of the model range in 1999,
keeping the tradition of the Carrera RS alive. The 911 GT2, the first
car equipped with ceramic brakes as standard, was marketed as an extreme
sports vehicle starting in the fall of 2000.<br />

<br />
In July 2004 Porsche unveiled the new generation 911 Carrera and 911
Carrera S models, referred to internally as the 997. The clear oval
headlights with separate blinkers in the front apron were a visual
return to older 911 models, but the 997 offered more than just style. It
was a high-performance vehicle, with a 3.6 liter boxer engine that
turned out 325 hp while the new 3.8 liter engine of the Carrera S
managed an incredible 355 hp. The chassis was also substantially
reworked, and the Carrera S came with Porsche Active Suspension
Management as standard equipment. In 2006 Porsche introduced the 911
Turbo, the first gasoline-powered production automobile to include a
turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. A model update in the fall
of 2008 made the 997 even more efficient thanks to direct fuel injection
and a dual clutch transmission. Never before had the 911 series made
such extensive allowances to suit drivers’ individual preferences, and
with Carrera, Targa, Cabriolet, rear or all-wheel drive, Turbo, GTS,
special models, and road versions of GT racing cars, the 911 family
ultimately comprised 24 model versions.<br />

<br />
This car, known internally as the 991, represents the greatest
technical leap in the evolution of the 911. Already the class benchmark
for decades, the new 911 generation raised performance and efficiency to
new levels. A totally new suspension with a longer wheelbase, wider
track, larger tires and an ergonomically optimized interior – it all
adds up to an even sportier yet more comfortable driving experience.
Technically, the 911 is the epitome of Porsche Intelligent Performance -
even lower fuel consumption, even higher performance. This is due in
part to the smaller 3.4 liter displacement in the Carrera basic model
(yet developing 5 hp more than the 997/II), and to its hybrid
steel/aluminum construction, which significantly reduces curb weight.
Other innovations include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and the
world’s first seven-gear manual transmission. The design of the 991 has
likewise met with high critical acclaim. With its flat, stretched
silhouette, exciting contours, and precisely designed details, the
seventh generation of the Porsche 911 Carrera remains unmistakably a 911
that has once again succeeded in redefining the standard for automobile
design. It is the best 911 of all time – until the next generation.<br />

It's awards season in Beverly Hills so let's see who's the best for 2013!<br />
<br />
The new Porsche Boxster S, has received yet another accolade, as this week it was named the 2013 Best of the Best/Car by Autoweek magazine– defeating more than a dozen contenders. This is the fifth major U.S. award for the Boxster since its launch in June 2012.<br />

“As the only brand to have two models make our list of top five finalists, Porsche showed up in force,” said Wes Raynal, editor of Autoweek. “Both the Boxster S and 911 are stellar vehicles, but ultimately the Boxster S proved an absolute delight to drive, and it claimed the title.”<br />
<br />
The third-generation Boxster is the latest mid-engine offering from Porsche and was completely redesigned for 2012. Taking styling cues from its heritage, the new Boxster pays homage to the Porsche 550 Spyder and Carrera GT models from decades past.<br />

The annual Autoweek Best of the Best awards are determined by Autoweek’s team of editors and include car and truck models that are publicly available and all-new or substantially new for 2013. The judges chose five cars and five trucks as finalists from the list of three dozen competitors, scoring each vehicle on various criteria including drivetrain, ride quality, handling, exterior, interior design and “fun factor.” This year, the finalists in the car category were the Porsche Boxster S, Porsche 911, Cadillac ATS, Subaru BRZ and Dodge Dart.<br />
<br />
Autoweek editor Wes Raynal presented trophies to the Best of the Best winners in the car and truck categories at an awards ceremony on Tuesday.<br />

The new Panamera concept was seen roaming the streets of Beverly Hills.

amazingly intelligent and efficient drive technology might look in the design language of tomorrow. The Sport Turismo unites the next generation hybrid drive with new ideas

premiere of the new Cayman at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The third
generation of the <a href="http://www.beverlyhillsporsche.com/new-inventory/new-luxury-cars-in-beverly-hills.htm?model=Cayman&" target="_blank">Cayman</a>, which is making its appearance before an
international audience at the LA Convention Center, has been
re-engineered from the ground up – it is lower and longer, lighter and
faster, more efficient and more powerful than ever. The two-seat sport
coupé will be launched on the market in two versions: Cayman and Cayman
S. A longer wheelbase, wider track and larger wheels enhance the driving
performance of the mid-engine sports car to a level without equal in
its competitive class.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Delivering more power with even better fuel economy than before, any
of two highly efficient flat-six cylinder engines is mounted just in
front of the rear axle, surrounded by its lightweight aluminium and
steel body. The Cayman is powered by a 2.7-liter engine with 275 hp;
with the Sport Chrono package it accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph
in 5.1 seconds. The 3.4-liter engine in the Cayman S produces 325 hp;
with PDK and the Sport Chrono package it sprints from 0-60 mph in 4.4
seconds.<br />
<br />
The new Cayman will arrive at <a href="http://www.beverlyhillsporsche.com/" target="_blank">Beverly Hills Porsche</a> in Spring 2013 starting at
$52,600 for the Cayman and $63,800 for the Cayman S, not including a
destination charge of $950.<br />
<br />
In addition to the world premiere of the new Cayman, the 911 Carrera 4
and the Panamera Platinum Edition are celebrating their North American
debuts at the show. The Carrera 4 models are distinguished by their
prominent broad rear section and a red light strip between the rear
lights. The typical Porsche all-wheel drive layout, which emphasizes
power to the rear wheels, guarantees maximum driving performance on a
wide variety of road surfaces and in all weather conditions. The 911
Carrera 4 was unveiled at the Paris International Motor Show in
September and is priced from $91,030, not including a $950 destination
charge, and goes on sale early next year.<br />
<br />
The Panamera Platinum Edition, available in Panamera and
all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 configurations, stands out thanks to subtle,
independent design features in platinum silver metallic combined with
expanded standard features and exclusive details. The base M.S.R.P for
the Panamera Platinum Edition will be $80,500. The Panamera 4 Platinum
Edition will have a base M.S.R.P of $84,600. Prices do not include the
$975 destination charge. Panamera Platinum Edition models go on sale in
January of 2013.<br />
