Porsche Turbo S Coming to Beverly Hills

2010 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Beverly Hills Porsche
will soon be receiving a shipment of the all new 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo S. Porsche engineers have tweaked, tuned and refined what was already the ultimate "E Ticket" ride into a thrill seekers paradise. In a press release issued today Porsche announces the debut of Porsche 911 Turbo S as even more dynamic 911 with top features being included as standard equipment.

The engineers at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new top-of-the-range sports car for the customer who will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S. The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW). Maximum torque is a most impressive 700 Newton-metres (516 lb-ft). At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the “regular” 911 Turbo.

Despite its significant increase in power and dynamic performance, the new 911 Turbo S, at 24.8 MPG, does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo, making it by far the most efficient sports car in its performance class.
The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppel-kupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Driving safety optimized to an even higher standard is ensured by Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo like-wise featured as standard, 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 60MPH 3.1 seconds! Top speed is 195 mph. Extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide the same outstanding performance in terms of stopping power and controlled application of the brakes.

The supreme level of standard equipment including Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue additionally underlines the outstanding class and caliber of this first Turbo S in five years.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be available at Beverly Hills Porsche as both a Coupé and Cabriolet early June 2010. Call Jay today to reserve your copy of this magnificent new Porsche.

Family Reunion, Porsche Style

Kim Flint Sr. and Jr. With Their 1969 Porsche 912

Working daily in one of the busiest Porsche dealerships in the country I hear some great and sometime outlandish stories about owning one of the world’s most fascinating motorcars. Once in a rare while one of these stories comes around that must be shared with the Porsche family.

While searching the internet for historic photos of some of my favorite Porsche cars I found this collection of images of a pristine 1969 912 Targa. The photos were arranged in a slide show with a beautifully written story of love and dedication for this particular automobile.

During the release of the all new Panamera Grand Turismo, Porsche launched an advertising campaign entitled “Family Tree”. Porsche encouraged owners to share their ownership stories with the Porsche Family. I have yet to see an example as wonderful as this story of Kim Flint and his 30th year reunion with his first Porsche love.

In 1969 Kim Flint Sr. purchased his dream car, a burgundy 912 Targa. The story continues as told by his first born, Kim Flint, Jr.

"In 1969 my father, Kim Flint Sr., bought a brand-new burgandy Porsche 912 Targa. It was a beautiful car. He and my mom enjoyed cruising about the Bay Area in it. In November of 1969, I was born. My parents drove me home from the hospital in that Porsche. While I was an infant, my parents used to strap my baby seat into the rear bucket seats of the Porsche and take me for drives.

In 1971, my mom was pregnant with my brother Kevin. My parents decided they needed a more practical car for my mom and her growing family, and so my dad sold his Porsche so that he could buy her a green Datsun station wagon. This of course, was a very traumatic event for my parents! (especially dad...) Throughout my life I have heard stories about that car.

My dad sold the Porsche to a man named Spencer Aust, who apparently had a passion for sports cars. My dad didn't know him, he was just the fellow who bought the car. In negotiating the price, my dad took off $100 in exchange for a clause in the seller's contract. If Spencer ever sold that car, my dad would get the first opportunity to buy it. I think that made my dad feel better about it all.

30 years later, Spencer Aust called my Dad."

The rest of this story is played out magnificently in photos and captions here on Kim Flint Jr's web site. ENTER: WWW.KIMFLINT.ORG

It's stories like Kim Flint's that keep me interested in selling Porsche cars. For me it's not about selling a product but more about extending our family tree. One of my mentors Zig Ziglar gave us a wonderful quote, "You can get all you want in life if you help enough people get what they want." For many people a new Porsche is more than just an expensive status symbol, it is instead a personal reward, it is the realization of a dream and an achievement of a lifetime goal. I'm honored to be in a position to help people realize their dream of owning a Porsche.

Many thanks to Kim Flint Jr. and Sr. for sharing their story with us.

My name is Jay Huffschmidt and I don't sell cars, I sell Porsche.

Porsche Rolls Off the 10,000th Panamera!

10,000th Panamera leaves the Leipzig plant

Everyday we are seeing an ever increasing volume of customers dropping in to the Beverly Hills Porsche showroom asking to see the all new Porsche Panamera. Reactions are mixed but one fact remains. The Panamera is a real hit with the LA movers and shakers. We are selling all models at a record pace. Porsche dealers worldwide are seeing a lot of fantastic response to the Panamera in the form of orders.

Today, just three months after the new Panamera went on sale in Germany and just two months on the market in the USA the 10,000th car rolled off the production line at the Leipzig plant of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart. The 500 HP platinum silver metallic Panamera Turbo will be delivered to a customer in Singapore.

Michael Macht, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG: "Sales of the Panamera have really taken off: we have already secured over 9,000 orders. Shortly after it was launched our Gran Turismo won the coveted "Goldenes Lenkrad" ["Golden steering wheel"] and "Auto Trophy" awards in Germany. It has also won many international prizes." The Panamera 4S is proving particularly popular and has a share of 44 per cent - putting it ahead of the Turbo (36 per cent) and the Panamera S (20 per cent).

The company plans to build 20,000 Panamera per year across the whole product cycle. The fourth Porsche model series is being manufactured at the Leipzig plant in the so-called model mix, sharing a production line with the Cayenne SUV. The innovative, highly streamlined production is seen as a model of technological and economic excellence for the automobile industry worldwide.

Happy 80th Birthday Hans Mezger!

Porsche's go fast guy, Hans Mezger.

Beverly Hills Porsche
and Porsche race fans everywhere would like to join in wishing Happy Birthday to Hans Mezger!

The former race and development engineer at Porsche AG, Hans Mezger, will be celebrating his 80th birthday today, November 18, 2009. On the subject of this celebration, Porsche development chairman Wolfgang Dürheimer said, “Hans Mezger is one of the most important engineers in our company’s history. For four decades, our racing cars won with engines designed by Hans Mezger and made the Porsche name a synonym for sports performance around the world.”

Hans Mezger was born on November 18, 1929 in Besigheim, Swabia. After graduating from high school and studying machine design, he started at Porsche in 1956, working on engine development. The first of a long series of racing engines designed by him was the 1.5 liter eight cylinder engine used in the Porsche 804 Formula 1 racing car, in which Dan Gurney won the French Grand Prix in 1962. Over the next decade, Hans Mezger’s work ranged from the design of the legendary six cylinder boxer engine for the Porsche 911 to the development of the legendary Porsche turbo engines used in both production and racing cars. One particular highpoint was the air-cooled twelve cylinder engine for the Porsche 917, which produced up to 1,200 horsepower in the 1973 CanAm version.

After developing so many successful racing cars, such as the Porsche 935, 936 and 956/962 models, Hans Mezger dedicated himself in the early 1980s to one particular customer commission: he designed the “TAG-Turbo made by Porsche” for the British racing team McLaren – a Formula 1 engine that produced up to 1,000 horsepower from a capacity of just 1.5 liters. From 1984 to 1986, the engine produced at the Porsche development center in Weissach dominated the elite class of motorsport and consequently landed three Formula 1 world championship titles.

After more than 40 years at Porsche, Hans Mezger retired in 1994. However, he retained close links with the Porsche brand. He still owns a Porsche 911 Carrera and is always a very welcome guest at the new Porsche Museum. When Hans Mezger visits the racing cars and engines he designed which are exhibited there, history comes alive once more.

PorscheHeritage.com Profiles & Interviews One of Our Own

Pictured (center) Jay Huffschmidt of Beverly Hills Porsche

By PorscheHeritage.com Profiles & Interviews

Imagine waking up every morning, heading off to work and being greeted by the latest and newest of what Porsche has to offer! That’s what Jay Huffschmidt of Beverly Hills Porsche faces everyday! –Hang around the Porsche GT3 and take Brad Pitt around in it (that really didnt happen, or did it..?) Porsche and Hollywood Glam! Thats a great combo! Jay of Beverly Hills Porsche takes a moment to sit down and tell us about his Porsche Heritage!

PH: The press reception in the past 6 months over the Porsche Panamera, can only be best described as “MIXED”! Many complained about the front engine lay out, but mostly about the rear-end design. What has been the reception and feedback you have received?

JH: The Panamera is definitely getting a lot of attention right now. Mostly form sedan owners of competing makes. We’ve had more than our share of Bentley GT, S Class and 750iL customers but the Masarati QP owners seem to be the most receptive to the car. I like to compare the Maserati to an exotic Super Model, she’s beautiful, sounds and feels amazing but some days she just doesn’t want to get out of bed and she’ll take you for every last dollar in your wallet. However at the end of the day she makes you feel like a million dollars.

Now the Panamera is the Heidi Klum of Super Cars. Heidi is arguably one of the most beautiful, talented, versatile, hardest working models on the planet. She works on several TV programs, appears on the most prestigious runways, she’s delivered four children and still has a ripping hot figure. She is the epitome of German reliability with international appeal. Just like Heidi, the Panamera will make you feel like she’s worth the million dollars and deliver uncompromised performances over and over again. Plus it doesn’t hurt that she can “Auf” just about any other sedan on the road.

PH: How long have you been working at “Beverly Hills Porsche”?

JH: I joined Beverly Hills Porsche in August 2009 after leaving a Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and Maserati dealer.
PH: How did you get into it?

JH: Many of my friends have moved over to Beverly Hills Porsche during the last few years.

PH: Please tell us a little bit about a unique job as working with Porsches and Working in Beverly Hills? Lots of Celebs? (Everyone is
wondering)

JH: Beverly Hills has always been known as the playground of the rich and famous. It widely considered to be one of the most famous shopping destinations in the world. Yes, we get plenty of celebrities but we also get lots of business leaders and old money types. We have a policy of not
disclosing who are customers are but if you watch enough tabloid TV you’ll see plenty of our Beverly Hills Porsche plate frames. In fact last night on Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing we got loads of screen time as one of the stars drove his black 911 Tagra around to client meetings. Truthfully I stopped being star struck years ago although a certain female talk show host and her girlfriend sure brought the showroom to a halt when they dropped in to pick out their new C4S.

PH: Whats your Daily Driver?

JH: I just turned in my leased Audi A4 2.0T and pulled my 2000 SLK 32 AMG out of storage.

PH: When was the first time you saw a Porsche or experienced?

JH: In high school I started a car detailing service with one important feature; I only took on clients that required pick up and delivery of their
vehicle. Ingenious! I found a way to drive all of my fantasy cars for free. All I had to do was take them home, wash and wax them to showroom perfection and take them back a few hours later. To top it off, I got paid.

Arguably the hottest girl in my hometown was Tasha H. and she drove a 911 SC Targa! Every week I’d drive to the beauty salon she worked at to pick up her car. Several hours later that red over black Targa would shine like it had just rolled off the line in Stuttgart. Soon every client of her salon knew my name and admired my work. Thankfully Tasha’s clients had money and the drove hot cars. When her boyfriend bought a ‘85 911 Turbo with a massive “whale tail” I though I’d died and gone to teenage heaven.

PH: What was your first Porsche?

JH: Many years later I bought a red over tan 1985 911 SC Targa similar to
Tasha’s

PH: How many Porsches have you owned?
JH: Just the one.
PH: Why did you get rid of it?

JH: Sadly I had to give up the 911 when I moved away to take a job with Cadillac.

PH: What would be your next Porsche?

JH: I have my sights set on a Cayman S. We have a 2008 Cayman S Sport in GT3 green on the showroom floor that I’m almost talked into but really want a PDK

PH: What are your favorite bookmarks and links?

JH: Porscheheritage.com of course.

PH: Do you work on your Porsche? To what extent? Change Oil?
JH: I never work on my own car outside of detailing. I’m really good at making friends with qualified mechanics but I can’t stand anyone else messing with the paint and leather.
PH: What is your most fondest/vivid memory of your Porsche? Was it a road trip?

JH: I always enjoyed how owners of other makes thought it was necessary to try and race me or grab my attention at lights, revving engines or giving the nod. Everybody seemed they have something to prove, except me. It gave me a strange sense of satisfaction letting them burn out while I took my time climbing the gears. The greatest thrill for me was when it was just me, “Red” and a twisty back road.

PH: Do you belong to a club? Do you guys have weekly coffee meetups?

JH: Right now I go to several meet-ups. Sometimes I take the new models, sometimes I take a trade in. Most of the events I go to I’m repping the company so I have to be on my best behavior. I try and make the Festival of Speed every year in Fontana.

PH: Would you like to give a shout out to anyone? Guys that helped
you out, etc..? (Show them some ‘love’ and appreciation)

JH: I just want to thank all of my customers that have stayed loyal. I’ve always tried to keep my customers close and not refer to them as clients but as friends. I have a habit of introducing them to each other by saying, “Hey this is my friend …. He has a GT3 like yours.”

PH: What is your dream Porsche? Something that you’ll never let go, my dream Porsche is the 904/GTS.

JH: My given name is Jerome just like Jerome “Jerry” Seinfeld. My dream is to someday have a collection that would rival his. I know it’s only a dream but this is Beverly Hills where dreams can and often do come true. God that sounds cheesy but that’s my dream.

A New Lighter, Faster Boxster Coming to Beverly Hills

Light, Efficient, Open: Boxster Spyder Making World Debut in Los Angeles

Update June 1, 2010: NOW IN STOCK the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder!

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is introducing a new top version of the Porsche Boxster, a light mid-engined roadster making its world debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show this December.

Significantly less weight than the Boxster S, a lower center of gravity and an all-new sports suspension give the Boxster Spyder the right kind of driving dynamics clearly reflecting the unique look of the car.

The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4-liter six-cylinder with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. Maximum output is 320 bhp, 10 bhp more than in the Boxster S.

Equipped with PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe and the Sports Chrono Package, the new Spyder, using Launch Control, accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Again with optional PDK, fuel consumption is a mere 30.4 mpg. Top speed, in turn, is 166 mph - with the roof open.

n terms of its fundamental concept, the entire Boxster family is the successor to the legendary 550 Spyder built back in 1953, both models sharing the same mid-engine roadster concept, low weight, back-to-the-roots lifestyle, and supreme agility com-bined with equally outstanding driving pleasure.

The 550 Spyder was the first sports car from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen developed specifically for racing but also homologated for the road. In the years following its production, this unique Spyder weighing only 1,213 lb, scored numerous victories on race circuits and in the road races so popular at the time.

The 550 Spyder was followed by other extremely successful Porsche Spyders such as the 718 RS 60 in 1960.

In 2004 and 2008 Porsche dedicated a limited edition of special Boxsters bearing the additional name Spyder to these legendary racing cars. By contrast, the new Boxster Spyder is a regular, specially developed and upgraded production model with far-reaching modifications versus the Boxster and Boxster S.

Market introduction of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder will start worldwide in February 2010.
