Porsche Takes Top Spot in Prestigious Quality Study, Fourth Year Out of Five

Once again underscoring its reputation as a true premier automobile manufacturer, Porsche has reclaimed what is arguably the industry’s most prestigious position, as the highest-ranked nameplate in the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Initial Quality Study (IQS). This highest ranking represents the fourth time in five years that the Porsche brand has been ranked highest among IQS nameplates.

“Reclaiming the top spot among nameplates in the IQS ranking is not only gratifying for all of us at Porsche, it tangibly reflects our absolute commitment to providing our customers with the highest possible quality and ownership experience,” said Detlev von Platen, president and CEO, Porsche Cars North America.

The Powers Say Porsche Ranks #1

At Beverly Hills Porsche we've been talking about Porsche quality and reliability with our customers for a very long time. It's great to see J.D. Power and Associates publishing their findings showing that Porsche has the best long-term reliability of any brand! Porsches had an average 110 problems per 100 vehicles in 3-year-old, or 2007 model-year, vehicles, the survey found. That's about 90% fewer than the average for all vehicles in the survey among original owners, 198. Porsche was followed by Lincoln, 114; Buick and Lexus, 115; Mercury, 121; Toyota, 128; Honda, 132; Ford, 141; Mercedes-Benz, 142; and Acura, 143.

The worst-performing brand was Land Rover, followed by Suzuki and Volkswagen.

The vehicles produced by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, continue to meet the highest quality standards in the USA, which is the company's largest export market. This conclusion was drawn from the results of the most recent public opinion survey, the "Vehicle Dependability Study", conducted by the US market research company J.D. Power and announced yesterday. The study ranked Porsche number one. More than 52,000 responses from original owners were evaluated for the study.

In the prestigious brand survey, original owners of 3-year-old cars were surveyed with regard to dependability within the last twelve months. Michael Macht, Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, stated, "We are very pleased to be ranked number one with regard to dependability in the renowned J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study. This ranking is due to our consistent high-quality work and customer orientation, and is a testament to the hard work of Porsche's employees over the last few years. This award shows that our sustainability strategy is paying off. The challenge is not about achieving a high quality standard for the short term, but to assure such quality over a period of many years. The fact that we received this award reflects the satisfaction of Porsche customers with the quality of the used vehicle - and we are very proud
